Perl for z/OS provides a port of the Perl (version 5.8.7) scripting language to the z/OS UNIX System Services platform. Perl (Practical Extraction and Report Language) is a very popular general-purpose programming language that is widely used on UNIX and other computing platforms. This port of Perl to the z/OS platform offers an enhancement over other versions of Perl in that it is preconfigured and precompiled and is designed to address ASCII/EBCDIC conversion and provide Unicode support.
Perl for z/OS is an unpriced feature of the IBM Ported Tools for z/OS, an unpriced licensed program.
To order Perl for z/OS, most customers can go to IBM ShopzSeries Web site. For all other customers, please contact your local IBM representative.
Note: When Perl for z/OS is ordered, it will be sent with IBM Ported Tools for z/OS (which contains the OpenSSH function). An order of IBM Ported Tools for z/OS will not include Perl for z/OS. OpenSSH and Perl for z/OS functions can be run independently.
