Welcome to the SA z/OS presentations and documents page. From this page you can download presentations and documents about SA z/OS.
, July 2007, 1.87MB
This presentation introduces the IBM Tivoli Monitoring support that has been added to SA z/OS with APAR OA18415.
It takes a close look at the SA z/OS data that is available in the Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) and the product-provided situations that come with SA z/OS.
Then, it considers Status Items: this powerful concept allows you to add your own monitoring for user-specified objects and to visualize and supervise them in the TEP.
Finally it gives you an overview of the new components, shows you how they interact with each other, and how you configure them.
System Automation for z/OS Basics, May 2007, 607KB
This presentation gives you a short introduction to SA z/OS.
It looks at the motivation for and basic requirements of automation. This is followed by a brief overview of SA z/OS, basic tasks involved in automation (such as starting and stopping applications, issuing commands and replies, shutting down systems, etc.), and an overview of policy activation.
Automating UNIX System Services, May 2007, 607KB
This presentation introduces you to automating UNIX System Services with SA z/OS.
It provides an introduction and overview of SA z/OS. It looks at FTP daemon automation as an example of how to automate a UNIX System Services process with SA z/OS. It provides details of process, file, and port automation, and ends with several practical hints.
, September 2006, 13.3MB
This is a self-running presentation of z/OS Performance Automation based on Tivoli System Automation for z/OS V3.1 and OMEGAMON.
It demonstrates the evolution to pro-active automation and how Tivoli System Automation for z/OS V3.1 integrates with OMEGAMON to include health information about an application in automation and how to use this health information for automation decisions like automatic provisioning of more application server programs.
Performance Driven Automation White Paper, May 2006, 1063KB
SA z/OS 3.1 provides new capabilities to integrate SA z/OS monitor resources with exceptions from the OMEGAMON Classic monitors for MVS, CICS, IMS, and DB2. This document will assist you with:
 |
Setting up your systems |
 |
Managing the connections between SA z/OS and OMEGAMON monitors |
 |
Defining SA z/OS monitor resources to retrieve exceptions from the OMEGAMON monitors and using the exception data to influence the Health Status of one or more resources |
 |
Defining more complex user automation based on exceptions from the OMEGAMON monitors |
Performance Driven Automation, January 2006, 766KB
This presentation gives an overview of health-based application automation. It explains the concepts of Monitor Resources—the infrastructure for health-monitoring.
It introduces the new SA z/OS V3.1 OMEGAMON session concept that enables interoperation between SA z/OS V3.1 and any of the classic OMEGAMON monitors for CICS, DB2, IMS, and MVS.
It also illustrates how Monitor Resources can be used for health-based application automation that is based on performance and availability data collected by OMEGAMON.
