To transfer and receive panel and skeleton files to z/OS data sets, use a process that allows you to place the files in an MVS data set with a fixed record length of 80. Then, use the TSO RECEIVE command to unpack the files into partitioned data sets. For example, follow this procedure for each file:
- Allocate a sequential data set on z/OS with the same name as the file, specifying a record format of FB and a record length of 80. Note that the data set name should match the name of the file after you ftp it in the next step, including any high-level qualifier added by ftp.
- ftp the file to z/OS as a binary file.
- On z/OS, issue the TSO command RECEIVE INDATASET( file-name), for example, RECEIVE INDATASET(SDSFREXX.PANELS.BIN).
- Respond to the RECEIVE command prompt for the data set name, either by accepting the default name or providing a new name. This results in a new partitioned data set containing the ISPF panels or skeletons.
