Use our free HCM demo

by Friedrich Beichter

Customers who want to assess the value of Hardware Configuration Manager (HCM) for their installation now get a terrific tool at hand. On the HCD/HCM web site, a new HCM demo version is provided which allows HCD users to load their own I/O Definition File (IODF) into HCM and see their I/O configuration as an HCM configuration diagram. They can generate graphical and textual reports from their own configuration, and even can add physical objects like cabinets or cables to the configuration. Using the own I/O configuration for the assessment of the value of HCM makes the evaluation very easy. And this is all for free!

Use HCM instead of HCD

by Regine Reichert, Martina Weidler

HCM users do not want to switch between HCD and HCM when they need to work with IOCP input data sets or configuration packages.

Starting with z/OS V1R10 HCM, users can create and migrate IOCP input data sets without leaving HCM and starting HCD.

Also since z/OS V1R10, HCM fully supports the configuration package concept, offering dialogs to

  • create, delete, and edit configuration packages within a work IODF
  • add or delete objects to and from a particular configuration package
  • transmit a configuration package.
