Problem Getting Files?

If you have problems downloading HCM files when clicking on a link invoking FTP, you can do a "native" logon to the FTP server where they are located. Here's how:

  • Using normal FTP:
    1. ftp to "public.dhe.ibm.com"
    2. Logon as "anonymous"
    3. Enter your e-mail address for the password. An example would be "userid@provider.com".
    4. Change to the hcm directory using the "cd" command:
      cd eserver/zseries/zos/hcm
    5. Use the "binary" or "ascii" command to set the download option for the file.
    6. Use the "get" or "mget" command to retrieve the files. Remember that file names are case sensitive.
    7. Use "quit" to quit.
  • Using a Web browser:
    1. Open URL "ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/eserver/zseries/zos/hcm/"
    2. Logon as "anonymous". This may be done automatically by your browser.
    3. Enter your e-mail address for the password. An example would be "userid@provider.com". This may be done automatically by your browser.
    4. Click on the file you want. With some browsers you may have to select a "save to disk mode" function first.
