1 IBM System z servers are designed to use central processors (CP). In addition, System z offers specialty engines, for example the Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL) enables Linux to run on System z, and the IBM System z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP) to improve resource optimization for running data workloads in z/OS. The specialty engines lower the cost of the System z platform, making it more cost effective and reducing software costs.
