Communication Controller for Linux on System z

Communication Controller for Linux (CCL) on System z is a solution that allows NCP software to run within Linux on System z processors to provide a migration path for customers who use traditional SNA. This solution lets them continue using traditional SNA without a dependency on IBM 3745 and 3746 Communication Controller hardware. CCL can help customers remove the dependency on an IBM 37xx for the majority of configurations where customers currently use 37xx environment. In particular, CCL can support NCP SNI connectivity and some NCP Boundary Function connectivity.

SNA and IP integration solutions for IBM System z

Communications Server for Linux on System z

CS for Linux on System z is in general similar to IBM distributed  Communications Servers for AIX, Microsoft® Windows, and Linux. The added value of CS Linux on System z is the ability to collapse the SNA network and consolidate SNAP integration into the System z server. CS for Linux provides SNA APPEND node functions and a range of traditional SNA-over-IP integration functions, such as TN3270 server, Enterprise Extender gateway, and remote API services to transport SNA flows over an IP network. CS for Linux on System z can help customers remove the dependency on SNA networking products.

Communications Server for z/OS

Communications Server for z/OS® is a part of z/OS and provides comprehensive IPv4, IPv6, and SNA network connectivity services to z/OS resident TCP/IP and SNA network applications. CS for z/OS also provides a set of traditional SNA/IP integration technologies such as TN3270 services and Enterprise Extender, which allow z/OS SNA applications to communicate over an IP network infrastructure instead of a traditional SNA network infrastructure. With the SNA/IP integration functions being deployed on z/OS, the SNA network infrastructure can be consolidated into the z/OS environment. SNA/IP integration on z/OS also allows for the most optimal network access to z/OS via the high-speed System z OSA-Express adapter. Like Communication Controller for Linux on System z and Communications Server for Linux on System z, the Communications Server for z/OS can also help customers remove the dependency on legacy SNA networking products.
