IBM offers to our Independent Software Vendor (ISV) community the
Vendor Participation Program. IBM wishes to drive awareness of this program not only to our Business Partners, but also to our IBM customers so that they can inform their software providers of the program's existence and the benefits for them to participate in it.
The Vendor Participation Program is a collaborative program between ISVs and the z/OS Development Laboratory to provide the following benefits to
both customers and ISVs.
Via the Vendor Participation Program, IBM can notify ISVs when changes occur to various parts of the z/OS operating system. ISVs can register their interest with IBM in major operating system components and receive notifications if changes are made to them. These changes can occur as a result of a new release, new function that is delivered through the maintenance stream, or service-related changes. The ISV can then make changes to affected products and test, thus yielding a higher quality product to their customers. It's a win-win-win situation for IBM, ISVs, and customers.
Your ISVs may obtain the following benefits by their participation in the program:
- A reduction in the number of issues that the customers discover by having the ISVs participate in the collaboration
- Proactively address interaction issues
- Increase knowledge / awareness of impact of changes on ISV products
- Eliminate usage of IBM undocumented interfaces by vendors
- Ensure that changes are made and tested before availability of new release
We urge you to inform your ISVs of the program, and the benefits they and you can join if the ISV participates in it. Your ISV can learn more about the program through the
PartnerWorld Web site.
