To assist with the assessment, implementation, operation, and maintenance of a z Systems Sysplex environment, IBM Global Technology Services is releasing today the IBM Implementation Services for Parallel Sysplex. IBM Implementation Services for Parallel Sysplex is designed with eight selectable modules to help you with your z Systems Sysplex environment. Each is a stand-alone module that can be individually acquired. The first module is an infrastructure assessment module, followed by seven modules which address the following z Systems Sysplex disciplines:

  1. Infrastructure planning, design, and implementation
  2. Availability and performance assessment
  3. Configuration and migration assistance
  4. Operator training
  5. Maintenance strategy
  6. Maintenance environment design and implementation
  7. Production cut over and deployment planning

IBM Implementation Services for Parallel Sysplex Middleware - DB2 data sharing

IBM Implementation Services for Parallel Sysplex Middleware - DB2 data sharing is designed for clients who want to:

  1. Enhance the availability of their data
  2. Enable applications to take full utilization of all servers' resources
  3. Share application system resources in order to meet business goals
  4. Manage multiple systems as a single system from a single point of control
  5. Respond to unpredicted growth by quickly adding computing power to match business requirements without disrupting their business

Parallel Sysplex InfiniBand (PSIFB) Assessment Services

IBM Systems Lab Services will assist installations with assessing the potential impacts of introducing the PSIFB coupling link technology in your client's existing datacenter and host environments.

Two z/OS Subject Matter Experts will review the existing configuration, measure the potential PSIFB impacts given existing coupling traffic activity, and provide a proposal on possible migration scenarios. A PSIFB Assessment consists of the following tasks and services:

The key deliverable of this offering is a PSIFB Impact Assessment and Migration Proposal that describes possible migration scenarios and recommended next steps to integrate PSIFB into your datacenter configuration.

This offering has been designed to mitigate the complexities involved with the migration and implementation of the PSIFB technology into a coupling link configuration, through the use of IBM recommended practices by senior z/OS technical Subject matter Experts (SME's).
