The community speaks

"The new IBM zEnterprise EC12 showcases all of the major System z differentiators: powerful processing; advanced reliability, availability and serviceability; enhanced security; efficiency at scale; and most important, the ability to optimally run and manage a wide range of workloads across System z and heterogeneous environments."

- Joe Clabby, President, Clabby Analytics

"Enterprises of all sizes need to take a close look at how the z114 might help lower their total cost of computing while increasing their qualities of service delivery."

- Mike Kahn, Managing Director, The Clipper Group

"(IBM zEnterprise 114) this 26 to 3,100 MIPS box will be just what the doctor ordered for HP and Oracle-Sun server customers who have been left in the lurch."

- Joe Clabby, President, Clabby Analytics

"Our two mainframes host 100 virtual servers, replacing at least 50 under-utilised x86 machines....this ultimately means that we're making better use of taxpayer money."

- Tim Simpson, IT Support Manager, Dundee City Council

"The new z114...has loads of capacity; it offers the highest quality-of-service level in the industry; and it has the ability to efficiently handle workloads now found on Itanium and SPARC servers...we believe IT executives considering migrating away from Oracle’s SPARC- and Hewlett-Packard (HP) Itanium-based servers should look very closely at IBM’s new z114!"

- Joe Clabby, Clabby Analytics

"Today’s announcement by IBM of the zEnterprise 114 as its entry-level offering reinforces, broadens, and expands upon the announcement of the zEnterprise System last July (with all the razzle-dazzle and fanfare it deserved for its revolutionary aspects of hybrid computing)."

- Steve Bartlett, The Clipper Group

"With the z114, IBM can now deliver a more compelling total cost of acquisition (TCA) case, giving midrange enterprises another option as they consolidate, virtualize, and migrate their sprawling server farms. This will be particularly interesting to shops running HP Itanium or Oracle/Sun servers."

- Alan Radding, Independent Assessment

“Using Linux and the IBM z/VM® operating system on IBM System z, the city created a customized cloud environment which provides a scalable and secure self-service platform on which employees can develop open source applications. The cloud architecture also empowered the general public to create and deploy citizen-centric applications.”

- Gordon Bruce, CIO of Honolulu’s Department of Information Technology

“We deployed our production business analytics environment on System z within 11 days, providing us with an efficient platform that ensures the flexibility, availability and reliability that our users demand. Creating a new Cognos server used to take months, and now it takes just hours”

- Adrienne DiPrima, Manager, Strategic Technologies Support. Miami Dade

"We use the numerous zEnterprise security components to help reduce our overall risk. For example, Encryption on zEnterprise is critical to our company success to allow us to protect customer privacy data while it is stored on our mainframe and while it is exchanged with other parties for processing."

- Todd Handel, Director, IT Strategy and Architecture, SC Data Center, Colony Brands

"Once again, IBM has demonstrated why the mainframe is the ultimate platform for enterprise computing. The new IBM zEnterprise EC12 offers a well-balanced collection of improvements for existing mainframe customers and even more reasons for a new customer to consider System z for critical workloads."

- Mike Kahn, Managing Director, The Clipper Group
