A four-digit feature code is used to specify a component that is configurable in the IBM configurators, the eBusiness Configurator (eConfig) and the IBM Web-based Hardware Configurator, used in US and Canada. Options that do not have feature codes cannot be integrated by IBM into a system using these IBM configurators. To purchase options separately, refer to the option part number provided in this document.

Datacenter Software Solutions System x3950

Software

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, Datacenter Edition or Microsoft Windows
Server 2003 R2, Datacenter x64 Edition is included with the designated
x3950 Datacenter servers. x3950 Datacenter UV and UVHA offerings include
the IBM certified "Drop in the box" MS Datacenter OS to be installed post-
delivery (4-socket license). MS Datacenter solutions/licenses are offered
to support 4-socket through 32-socket solutions. The x3950E Datacenter
Expansion Unit has no physical Datacenter OS installed or shipped separately.
Each x3950E is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for a 4-socket
Datacenter license (Five Client Access Licenses (CAL) are included. Additional
CAL must be purchased separately from Microsoft).1


Required services for Datacenter UVHA offerings

  • All Datacenter UVHA configurations are to be validated by IBM
    technical support prior to an Expert Solutions Assurance Review
  • Expert Solutions Assurance Review2
  • Installation and Integration Support Contract with System
    x lab Services (xLS)
  • Remote Support Contract with Global Technology Services (GTS)
  • Limited Warranty service with 24x7 same day response3
  • A Microsoft Software Assurance Contract is required for
    Datacenter OS Upgrades and OS Maintenance

IBM optional support services for Datacenter UV offerings

  • Contracted Onsite installation and Integration by IBM (xLS)
  • Contracted Remote Software Support by IBM (GTS)
  • Warranty upgrade (24x7x2 hour response)

IBM optional support services for Datacenter UV and UVHA offerings

  • Testing Services - proof of concept, assessment, design and planning
  • Custom services for unique requirements provided by IGS

Note: A Datacenter node represents a single instance of the operating
system, regardless of the number of chassis in the configuration.

    directly through IBM. Business Partners will also perform this
    service but may choose to charge a fee.

    Copies are available upon request. International Warranty Service
    available in those countries where the particular product is sold by IBM
    or IBM Business Partners. With respect to onsite service, IBM sends
    a technician after attempting to resolve the problem remotely.
