Datacenter solution program

The IBM Datacenter Solution Program is a comprehensive set of hardware,
software, and service offerings intended to deliver true enterprise computing
solutions based on the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Datacenter Edition
operating systems. The IBM System x3950 supports 4-socket to 32-socket
Datacenter solutions.

IBM offers two separate Datacenter solutions. The Datacenter Unlimited
Virtualization (UV) offering for stand-alone server solutions and the
Datacenter Unlimited Virtualization with High Availability (UVHA) Program
for Datacenter tested and supported cluster configurations including storage.
The IBM Datacenter Solutions include Microsoft-certified hardware, Windows
Datacenter Server operating systems and onsite services and remote support
offerings through System x Lab Services and IBM Global Technology Services
(GTS). Microsoft Software Assurance is available for MS WS Datacenter
upgrades and updates.

In addition to the configuration information on the following pages, the IBM
Datacenter Solution Program includes the following services. The service
offerings must be contracted separately, and are required with the Datacenter
UVHA offerings. An Expert Solutions Assurance Review (SAR) must be
conducted by IBM or a IBM Business Partner to ensure that the configuration
being ordered is valid and complete prior to placing any orders.

The product content described herein is consistent worldwide; however,
there may be some variance in IBM part numbers outside of the US and
Canada. Contact your IBM Business Partner or IBM Marketing Representative
for assistance with your specific configuration requirements.

Datacenter customers purchasing 4-socket through 32-socket Datacenter
solutions with intentions of later partitioning their Datacenter servers
into smaller servers should order more than one x3950 server in their
original purchase. The Datacenter OS is shipped with the x3950 server only
and not the x3950E. The x3950E Expansion unit includes only the Datacenter
OS license. For example, if a customer purchasing a 16-way stand-alone
server would like to later partition the server into two 8-way servers,
they should purchase two x3950 servers and two x3950E Expansion units.
