The IBM Rear Door Heat eXchanger V2 delivers an industry-leading cooling system that uses chilled water to provide cooling for individual server cabinets. It is designed to increase equipment density in data centers, and helps reduce the need for inefficient computer room air conditioning units, saving you money and reducing your server footprint. The Rear Door Heat Exchanger V2 supports the IBM 42U 1100 mm Enterprise V2 Dynamic Rack and IBM PureSystems and IBM Flex System products.

IBM Rear Door Heat eXchanger

In the last 5 years the performance of servers and storage has increased exponentially. Along with this performance growth has come a significant increase in the power dissipated by the server and storage hardware. This has caused a significant strain on the infrastructure of data centers that were built for hardware power levels much less than what are being shipped today. The much higher rack power levels have caused customers to spread out their server products in order to cool them in the current facilities, using up valuable and expensive raised floor space. IBM anticipated this trend and developed The IBM Rear Door Heat eXchanger for IBM Enterprise Racks. This simple, cost effective, easily installable solution can save on valuable floor space, reduce the heat load to the data center environment and eliminate hot spots within the data center.

IBM Acoustic Door for Enterprise Rack

Whether you are trying to address excessive noise levels in the datacenter or deploying a single rack in a particularly sensitive area, the IBM Acoustic Door for the 9308 Enterprise Rack can substantially reduce sound levels without impacting the cooling of your servers.


  • Door reduces sound levels by about ~6 decibels
  • ~ 6 decibels or 6 dB(A) equals 0.6 bels. Sound volume/intensity doubles every time you increase by one bel (it is a logarithmic scale measurement)
  • Available for IBM enterprise 42U racks (93084RX and 93084XX)
  • Acoustic doors are deeper than the standard doors and have sound deadening properties. This adds about 7.5 inches (19.05 cm) to the front and back for a total depth of 15 inches(38.1 cm)
