An industry first: 1 million IOPS can be achieved on a blade server!

This paper demonstrates how the combination of the BladeCenter® H chassis, an HX5 blade server with PCIe expansion blades and high IOPS PCIe adapters make it possible for a blade server to deliver more than a million 4K random IOPs and large sequential bandwidth of more than 5000 MB/s.

IBM Sweeps x86 Performance

A Gabriel Consulting Group 2010 survey shows IBM topping all competitors by a wide margin in the area of performance through the design of their own chipset and extension of their x86 system architecture with speedy Nehalem chips and new features, like MAX5 memory drawers and Solida State Drives (SSDs).

IBM System x achieves leadership 8-processor score for SPECvirt_sc2010 benchmark

System x just released the leadership virtualization score of 72 Tiles (a Tile represents 6 complex workloads such as a Mail Server or an Application Server) on the x3850 X5. The official score of 7067 @ 432 VM's was achieved using IBM's premier x3850 X5 w/ 2 TB's of memory, 2 node, 80 core Westmere processors, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and highlighting our hypervisor technology - KVM. Our score represents 432 complex workloads (Virtual Machines) consolidated onto 1 high-end System x platform.
