Customer data is vital to business operations. IBM offers entry-level tape products that are designed to provide backup and protection of client data at an appealing cost to a company's budget.

IBM System Storage TS2230 Tape Drive Express Model

IBM System Storage TS2230 Tape Drive Express Model

The IBM System Storage™ TS2230 Tape Drive Express Model (TS2230), P/N 3580L3E is an excellent tape storage solution for entry-level businesses requiring backup or low-cost, real-time archival of their data within a small window of time—high-capacity and performance can meet the most demanding requirements. The new TS2230 has a storage capacity of up to 800GB (with 2:1 compression) in conjunction with the new IBM TotalStorage® LTO® Ultrium™ 400GB data cartridge, which is double the capacity of the Ultrium 2™ technology. Along with its high capacity, the performance of the TS2230 Tape Drive has more than doubled over the previous half-high LTO generations for a native data transfer rate of up to 60 MBps. The TS2230 Tape Drive provides an excellent alternative to slower and smaller capacity 1/4- inch, 4 mm and 8 mm DLT/SDLT tape drives.

IBM System Storage TS3310 Tape Library

IBM& System Storage TS3310 Tape Library

For businesses challenged with rapidly growing data backup needs and limited physical space for a tape library, the IBM System Storage™ TS3310 offers simple, rapid expansion as processing needs grow. This tape library allows you to start small with only a single 5 EIA rack unit high library. Over time, as your need for tape backup expands, you can add additional 9U expansion modules, each of which contains space for additional cartridges, tape drives and a redundant power supply. The entire system grows vertically. Currently, available configurations include the 5U base library module and a 5U base with one 9U expansion module. Future configurations will allow the interconnection of several 9U modules, allowing a TS3310 tape library to hold over 400 LTO tape cartridges.

Typical compression

2:1 for tape drives;
3:1 for DVD optical drives

1 Native / Compressed Capacity: The usable capacity of a cartridge is dependent on the environment that it is used in and the compressibility of the data and is typically 2x in an open system environment and 3x in a System z9 environment
2 Native / Compressed Performance: The performance of a tape drives is dependent on the environment that it is used in and the compressibility of the data as well as other factors such as the generation of Storage Are Network.
3 using 3592 JA/JW cartridges initialized to Gen 1 format
4 using 3592 JA/JW cartridges initialized to Gen 2 format
