As a component of the IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center, TotalStorage Productivity Center for Disk is designed to help reduce the complexity of managing SAN storage devices by allowing administrators to configure, manage and performance monitor storage from a single console.

Productivity Center for Disk is designed to:

Enable proactive performance management by setting performance thresholds based on performance metrics and the generation of alerts
Configure multiple storage devices from a single console
Monitor and track the performance of SAN attached Storage Management Interface Specification (SMI-S) compliant storage devices

The IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Disk includes many advanced features to helps simplify and streamline your device management.

An integrated administration console designed to simplify the management of multiple storage devices by allowing you to perform administrative tasks from a single console. It is designed to enable aggregation and grouping of devices and provide policy based actions across multiple storage devices.
Performance Management capabilities designed to help you maximise the performance of your devices by collecting and storing performance data, allowing you to intelligently tune your SAN devices by offering performance monitoring and alerts.

Volume Performance Advisor is designed to optimise storage allocations by analysing workload profiles and providing advice on the best location to choose or create volumes in an IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server.
Reporting capability is designed to allow administrators to roll-up metrics, such as I/O rates and cache utilisation, to help optimise storage utilisation by identifying the best available LUNs.
