The IBM System Storage™ DS4800 disk storage system supports a high-performance 4 Gbps Fibre Channel interface. Increased host connectivity delivers the necessary bandwidth for high-throughput applications. Designed for data-intensive applications that demand increased connectivity, eight 4 Gbps host channels can help provide up to 1724 MBps of sustained bandwidth, allowing for high&45;throughput applications through eight channels directly attached to the host servers or connected to a Fibre Channel storage area network (SAN).

As part of the DS4000 series, the DS4700 Express offers high-performance 4 Gbps capable Fibre Channel connections, up to 33.6 TB of Fibre Channel physical storage capacity, 112 TB of SATA physical storage capacity, and powerful system management, data management and data protection features. The DS4700 Express is designed to expand from workgroup to enterprise&45;wide capability with up to six Fibre Channel expansion units with the DS4000 EXP810 Expansion Unit.

The IBM System Storage EXP3000 is a high-density 2U, 19" rack-mountable driven closure designed for supporting a total of 12 Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) 3.5-inch disk drives.

The dual-port MegaRAID 8480 adapter is optimized for cost-sensitive and space-limited environments that demand both feature-rich and high-performance solutions. The adapter delivers an intelligent and robust RAID solution supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 10, 5, and 50, and utilizing a high-performance Intel I/O processor for optimum RAID performance and a PCI-Express host interface for increased bandwidth.

Together, the EXP3000 and MegaRAID 8480 leverage leading Serial-attached SCSI (SAS), the new interface technology with broad industry commitment and interoperability behind it. A maximum of four EXP3000s can be cascaded from the MegaRAID 8480 adapter to support a total of 48 disks while simultaneously improving performance of the configuration due to higher number of disks.

The IBM System Storage EXP420 Storage Expansion Unit (18128VH) is a Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) disk-only storage expansion unit for use with the DS4200 Express Model 7V.

The DS4000 EXP810 is the latest disk drive enclosure in the DS4000 Series of products. This 3U enclosure has 4 Gbps Fibre Channel (FC) interfaces, and supports up to 16 disk drives.

• ScalableThe 4 Gbps ready IBM System Storage EXP810 Storage Expansion Unit machine type (1812-81A) offers a new 16-bay disk enclosure for attachment to selected DS4000 Midrange Disk Systems, with up to 4.8 terabytes (TB) physical capacity per expansion unit using sixteen 300 GB disk drives. The EXP810 Storage Expansion Unit is designed to accommodate 2 Gbps Fibre Channel Enhanced Disk Drive Modules (E-DDM), as well as 4 Gbps Fibre Channel Enhanced Disk Drive Modules (E-DDM), or 4 Gbps Serial ATA Enhanced Disk Drive Modules(E-DDM).
