- Storwize V7000: Disaster recovery for SAP with VMware Site Recovery Manager on IBM Storwize V7000 storage system
This paper describes the steps how to install and configure a disaster recovery environment using VMware Site Recovery Manager 4.1 (SRM) in an existing VMware environment with SAP as the main application. VMware Site Recovery Manager, together with the IBM Storwize V7000 system and the FlashCopy and Metro Mirror function, provide the ability to easily implement a disaster recovery solution for virtualized environments.
- Storwize V7000: Exploring vStorage APIs for Array Integration on IBM Storwize V7000
Support for the VMware vStorage APIs for Array Integration has been added in the IBM Storwize V7000 6.2 code release. The VAAI API primitives: hardware-accelerated Block Zero, hardware-assisted Locking, and hardware-accelerated Full Copy enable certain VMware vSphere functions to be offloaded from the vSphere ESX or ESXi host to the VAAI-enabled Storwize V7000. Functions, such as virtual machine disk creation, virtual machine cloning, and VMware Storage VMotion are able to run on the Storwize V7000 storage system, eliminating resource usage on the vSphere ESX or ESXi host, and realizing an increase in performance. This white paper examines the benefits that the vStorage APIs for Array Integration provide for the IBM Storwize V7000.
