New IBM TS1130 Tape Drive offers performance and capacity
IBM announces the new IBM TS1130 third generation enterprise tape drive with 1 TB capacity, 160 Mbps data rate, and data encryption capability. The new drive works in IBM TS3400 and TS3500 tape libraries and with the TS1120 tape controllers. Look to the new TS1130 to provide data protection technology including high performance encryption to protect data from unauthorized physical access and inadvertent data exposure when tape media is lost or stolen. Low power consumption of the TS1130 drives helps conserve energy and saves on utility costs.
IBM announces the IBM Virtualization Engine TS7530 which provides high performance and scalable tape virtualization solutions to support growing customer environments. The TS7530 integrates functions like HW compression and 1TB drives for increased speed and additional disk capacity at a lower price per GB. The TS7530 also supports RAID 6 and System i BRMS integration.
