Real-time data compression takes storage efficiency to a new level

IBM Real-time Compression Appliances can transparently compress primary NAS data, so clients can keep up to 5 times more data online and gain additional efficiencies throughout the data lifecycle. By shrinking primary data, all subsequent copies of that data, such as backups, archives, snapshots, and replicas are also compressed. IBM Real-time Compression Appliances fit between NAS (IBM N series, NetApp, EMC Celerra/VNX) systems and network switches, and can compress primary NAS files and databases up to 80%. This increases application throughput and user response time by helping to improve the efficiency of both application servers and the storage systems.

IBM Real-time Compression Appliance STN6500 is ready to deploy into 1 Gb Ethernet NAS environments. STN6500 has 16 ports, supporting 8 connections between NAS systems and network switches.
IBM Real-time Compression Appliance STN6800 can be customized with multiple 10 Gb and 1 Gb Ethernet ports to support high throughput requirements.
