IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Cartridges 3592 are designed to work with the first-generation IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Drive 3592 Model J1A (3592 J1A tape drive) and the second-generation IBM System Storage™ TS1120 Tape Drive (TS1120 Tape Drive). Cartridges are available in two lengths and in either re-writeable or Write Once, Read Many (WORM) formats. The short length 3592 JJ/JR cartridges provide rapid access to data and the standard length 3592 JA/JW cartridges provide high capacity.
IBM 3590 Extended High-Performance Cartridge Tape continues the IBM focus on tape technology by doubling the length and providing twice the capacity of IBM 3590 High-Performance Cartridge Tape. These tape products increase the data storage capacity of half-inch cartridge tape. In addition, both types of cartridges can reside in the same physical space as IBM 3490 cartridges; they can also coexist in an IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Library 3494.
The IBM Enhanced Capacity Cartridge System Tape continues the IBM tradition of innovative tape technology by doubling the capacity of the Cartridge System Tape. When used with the IBM 3490 Magnetic Tape Subsystem and other compatible models, this cartridge can increase the capacity—depending on data characteristics —by an average of 12 times when compared to uncompacted, original 3480 tape cartridges.
