1) Linear Tape Open (LTO) and 3592 Tape drive
LTO 3584 is partitioned in logical librarys (configured through the UltraScalable Specialist with ALMS) to show functionality with parallel data access of several operating systems and performance differences of Gen1, Gen2, Gen3 and 3592 tape drive technology.
2) Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)
TSM backup/restore to LTO 3584 with Gen3 technology over Gigabit Ethernet and LANfree backup with SAN connectivity.
3) TPC
We monitor and track the performance of SAN attached SMI-S compliant storage devices. We monitor, manage and control (zone) SAN fabric components. We manage the capacity utilization and availability of file systems and databases.
4) Storage Area Network (SAN)
Our SAN components consists of McData, Cisco and Brocade fibre channel switches and provide a SAN fabric to all fibre attached products (server and storage) to show connectivity, compatibility and flexibility.
5) Grid Technology and Globus Toolkit
This demonstration illustrates the interoperability of different IBM Hardware architectures in a grid environment using the Globus Toolkit and the Webservices. The application reflects a typical "everyday" task in a LifeScience environment: from experiments in which a Bio-Scientist has extracted an unknown DNA sequence and wants to know if this sequence is identical or similar to a section on known long DAN sequences from large gene database.
6) Storage Area Network (SAN)
Our SAN components consists of McData, Cisco, CNT and Brocade fibre channel switches and provide a SAN fabric to all fibre attached products (server and storage) to show connectivity, compatibility and flexibility. For this purpose he feeds the new sequence through is web browser to the system, specifies which kind of database should be consulted and asks the system to find out best alignments.
7) DS8000 and DS6000 series... storage on demand
The new DS8000 and DS6000 series systems have now been implemented. Attachment to pSeries, xSeries, iSeries and zSeries will be demonstrated in conjunction with latest copy services like Flashcopy, Global Mirror and Metro Mirror and its common management interface.
8) DS4000
We show all available DS4000 models (4100,4300,4400,4500,DS4800) in conjunction with dynamic volume expansion, flashcopy and remote mirroring and the multipath feature RDAC with an typical failover scenario on AIX and W2K attached servers.
9) SVC
We show how to reduce the complexity and costs of managing SAN-based storage. Attachment of several non-IBM disk systems and typical scenarios to provide SAN storage are part of the live demo. Administration and configuration of storage. Apply advanced copy services across storage systems from many different vendors.
10) Virtualization for Files
We demonstrate how to simplify file and data management in a storage area network by consolidating file systems across UNIX®, Windows®, and Linux® servers.
