Power on wheels
Power on Wheels is a revolutionary addition to the Power Loaner Program. Power on Wheels includes the latest POWER technology and is delivered to your location in a self contained shipping box. When the box arrives, it is wheeled to your floor, you open the doors, plug the box into an electrical outlet and within minutes, you start stepping through the graphical user interface to power up and start running the demo software application.
Fully preloaded with a suite of operating systems and middleware configured in a multi-tiered solution, you can observe an on-line stock trading application in action, explore Power technologies such as virtualization, energy saving and server consolidation, and install your own applications to see how they would perform on Power Systems.
Power on Wheels supports Live Partition Mobility and includes a software demo environment with solutions in Application Development and Hosting, Service Automation, Information Management and Smart Analytics. PowerVM® LX86 is included on the system so that you can install x86 applications with no recompilation to test them on Power Systems. You can modify or change the machine in anyway that fits your environment, and can easily integrate the Power on Wheels into your network by using the its integrated network switch and the provided cables.
You can quickly restore the Power on Wheels to its original state at any time -- as it was when it arrived on the floor.
Power on Wheels is ideal for in house benchmarks and proofs of concepts and is available through the Power Loaner Program or the STG Client Benchmark Center in Poughkeepsie.
