Feature 8453, 0453 and 0456: Customer Specified Placement
Customer Specified Placement is offered for Power systems as feature 8453, feature 0453, and features 0456. This offering provides placement of features by IBM manufacturing in the CEC (Central Electronics Complex) and server complex for new system orders. Communications between the IBM or Business Partner sales team and IBM manufacturing are streamlined, enabling the sales team to provide the specific placement requirements to IBM manufacturing. IBM custom builds your new system according to these placement requirements.
Feature 8453 is also available on orders configured with the "NEWSYS" function in eConfig. A "NEWSYS" upgrade order has all new hardware, but the software is brought forward from an existing system. There are two methods to facilitate custom placement for System i "NEWSYS" orders.
Method 1. Perform the custom placement in eConfig using the drag & drop process and submit the CFReport generated from the session for order processing. If using the Dual Submit process, submit the _.cfr file to IBM via this website. If you are using the Single Submit process, the custom placement information will automatically be sent with the order. Currently the Single Submit process is only available to US Business Partners and Distributors.
Method 2. Use the CFReport from the current configuration for the standard ordering purposes, but do not submit that CFReport via this website as it will not have the custom placement information. Create a new (independent) CFReport by following these steps:
- perform custom placement in SPT
- export CFReport from SPT
- restore the SPT CFReport in eConfig as an initial order and address any errors
- ensure the hardware of the "NEWSYS" order matches the hardware from the current configuration
- if using the Dual Submit process, submit the eConfig generated CFReport via this website -- but do not forward the CFReport for order processing
- OR
- If using the Single Submit process, you will receive an email with instructions on submitting the CFReport
If you have any questions about this process, please use the "Contact Us" link on this page.
