Business leaders depend on data about business operations and the marketplace to differentiate their businesses from competitors. Identifying hidden relationships, patterns and trends in the era of big data can be a daunting task given the unprecedented volume, variety and velocity of data, in the face of higher demands for analytics.
See how IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration and IBM Power Systems delivers faster analytics with new dynamic in-memory technology
Organizations need faster insight and agility to attract and retain customers, and to increase operational efficiency on an infrastructure that’s designed for speed and availability to meet critical business requirements.
IBM BLU Acceleration – Power Systems Edition enables faster and less complex analytic queries and reporting using dynamic in-memory columnar technologies for business intelligence, predictive analytics and data warehouse applications. The solution is built on POWER8 processor-based scale out and enterprise servers. It includes IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration which is specifically optimized to take advantage of Simultaneous Multi-Threading in POWER processors, and autonomically detects and exploits larger pages and storage keys. BLU Acceleration is also designed to take advantage of multiple cores, providing consistent performance for a large number of users. Efficient use of available hardware such as memory, I/O and CPU helps to reduce memory latency for faster analytics processing. DB2 with BLU Acceleration is fully integrated with DB2 on Power servers. It does not require SQL or schema changes to implement.
BLU Acceleration – Power Systems Edition also includes an option for AIX, Red Hat or Ubuntu Linux. BLU Acceleration on Power supports both big endian and little endian bit ordering. This provides the option to accelerate existing Linux application data on Power (big endian), or include legacy data from x86 Linux applications (little endian). Virtualization with PowerVM provides security, resilience and the flexibility to add analytics applications such as IBM Cognos or IBM SPSS in separate virtual machines. As data volumes grow requiring larger data warehouses, Capacity on Demand functions in the Power enterprise-class models enable the seamless addition of processor cores and memory for greater capacity, and application migration without powering down the system.
For organizations who want to more effectively achieve profitability and competitive differentiation for analytic data workloads, DB2 with BLU Acceleration on the range of Power servers provides a high performance, highly resilient and secure data warehouse infrastructure for faster insights from analytics reporting. Ad hoc queries for data exploration become more productive, because users don’t have to wait long periods of time for results.
