PowerVM Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) is being used by many IBM i clients to virtualize external storage and networking resources to optimize their IT infrastructure. This 2-day workshop will help you obtain skills to design and deploy VIOS partitions to host external storage and networking for IBM i client partitions.
Through lecture and hands-on lab activities, students will learn the key concepts needed to install and configure VIOS partitions and to configure IBM i partitions so they can be hosted by VIOS using external storage. Instruction on the management, operations and maintenance of VIOS partitions will also be provided.
Note: This 2-day workshop is typically offered immediately before the “Storwize V7000 and IBM i Workshop” in the same week so students can attend both classes if interested. If you want to learn how to virtualize Power System internal storage, you should consider the 3-day VIOS workshop (workshop code VIOSi3Day) offered separately.
