Question: How many licenses will I need?
Answer: PowerHA for AIX is a server product that has one charge unit: Number of processors. The number of processors is the sum of the number of processors on which PowerHA will be installed or run.
The same rules apply to the Standard and Enterprise Editions.
Ordering and billing is per physical processor, regardless of processor sharing ("sub-cpu LPARs"). A processor shared among multiple partitions counts as one processor.
This program is eligible for sub-capacity pricing, usage, and billing.
Question: Can I add PowerHA licenses or processors for short-term use, or additional inexpensive idle backup processors and memory?
Answer: Yes! With the appropriate prerequisites in place you can add 450-processor-days of On/Off CoD whenever needed. See the On/Off CoD Announcement Letter 204-298 and 105-056
