IBM System p™ servers, running the AIX® operating system, provide an ideal platform for implementing SOA-based solutions. The reuse capabilities of these solutions can be significantly enhanced by leveraging key products such as Rational Application Developer to provide an integrated environment for the development, test, and maintenance of reusable applications and services.
The document describes the Reuse Entry Point for SOA-based solutions running on System p servers and provides a bridge between the concept of SOA and the software and System p server components needed to implement an SOA Reuse Entry Point.
The reader is introduced to the concept of reuse and the benefits that a carefully architected reuse solution may provide a business. An overview of some of the many available IBM hardware and software products which can be used to facilitate software reuse is presented and finally, the reader is shown how these components can be incorporated to create an SOA reuse solution.
