Implementing a full SOA-based solution requires careful planning and execution to be successful. We recommend a gradual, step-by-step approach. To help clients to start their SOA journey, IBM has defined five SOA Entry Points — People, Connectivity, Reuse, Process and Information. Selection of an Entry Point to start building an SOA-based solution depends on the individual client situation.
There are four stages in the SOA life cycle:
1. Model
2. Assemble
3. Deploy
4. Manage
This document discusses the physical deployment for the last two stages which reflect the production stage of operation.
The illustrated collaboration solutions that follow are examples of a People Entry Point and should not be presented to clients as a complete recipe. Client implementations depend on the specific business requirements, designed processes, IT environment, patterns1 chosen and other non-functional considerations such as existing infrastructure and availability. All of these factors influence the physical deployment on System p servers.
