Using IBM Lotus Domino 6 and 7 on POWER5

Performance considerations for the IBM AIX 5L Version 5.3 operating system

This paper presents the performance results of various tuning efforts for IBM Lotus® Domino® applications. The benchmarks ran on IBM System p5™ technology with the IBM AIX 5L™ Version 5.3 operating system. This material can help administrators who need to tune a Lotus Domino server configuration on IBM POWER5™ and POWER5+™ processor-based systems with the AIX 5L™ operating system for various combinations of application tasks.

This paper demonstrates that the System p5 server and the AIX 5L V5.3 operating system present a powerful platform that offers excellent performance for many of today's critical business applications. This makes it well suited for Lotus Domino 6, which is itself a powerful messaging and groupware platform, on which more than 100 million users depend for corporate messaging. The combination of Lotus Domino, AIX 5L, and POWER5 and POWER5+ systems technology is a strong, stable, and scalable solution for today's messaging and groupware demands.
