How to get started with HACMP/XD
HACMP/XD provides disaster recovery by mirroring your application data between sites. Regardless of the data replication method chosen (Metro-Mirror/PPRC, GLVM or HAGEO) your configuration will require a dedicated, high speed communication link between the sites (IP, FICON or ESCON). This link must have sufficient capacity to transfer the application data in real time. To help you determine the link capacity required, IBM provides a tool called "gmdsizing" which you may use to measure your application data throughput. This tool is available from several sources:
- Download from the web—
GMDSizing Tool downloadable tar file
- From the HACMP/XD installation media—by installing the hageo.gmdsizing fileset
- From the HAGEO installation media—by installing the hageo.gmdsizing fileset
- From the HACMP installation media—this tool is shipped with the cluster.es.samples fileset
All four options include a README file with detailed instructions for using the tool.
