Networking for Power Systems

IBM System Networking helps address IBM Power Systems client demands for smarter, high-performance solutions purpose-built for the modern data center and today’s economics of IT.

IBM System Networking's competitive portfolio includes the RackSwitch family, Flex System, Converged, FC SAN and the IBM BladeCenter embedded switches family, along with IBM’s innovative virtualization, Software Defined Networking/OpenFlow and management software.

Networking is integrated into key solutions providing workload-optimized and massively scalable solutions for PureSystems, SmartCloud Entry, IBM Smart Analytics System, and IBM PureData System.

Networking’s VMready technology also provides virtualization solutions for IBM Power Systems. Virtualization of IBM Power systems becomes network-aware with IBM VMready—supporting network policy migration and enforcement of PowerVM logical partitions across the network.

IBM Flex System (PDF, 1.42MB) and System Networking products have been certified by The Tolly Group to deliver interoperability with Cisco Catalyst (PDF, 242KB) and Nexus (PDF, 1.22MB) switches, enabling clients to protect existing investment while increasing capability and performance.

IBM System Networking switches can be purchased with Power Servers to meet customer specific networking requirements, build custom solutions, upgrade existing data centers, or add network capacity. IBM System Networking components can be conveniently ordered using Power Systems machine type models (MTM) and feature codes to aid in configuration and simplify fulfillment.
