10Gb Ethernet Transceivers

The adoption of 10Gb Ethernet is growing rapidly. For the majority of cabling runs up to 7 meters, clients can use Direct Attach Cable (DAC), especially when connecting servers within the same rack or between closely located racks. For longer distances, use short or long range transceivers and optical cables.

40Gb Ethernet Transceivers

While 40Gb Ethernet is an emerging technology, there are many options with QSFP+ to QSFP+ cables or for longer distances up to 10,000 kilometers using the LR4 transceiver. IBM also supports breaking out 40Gb QSFP+ ports using QSFP+ DAC Break Out Cables to split out each 40Gb port and connect up to four 10Gb SFP+ DAC connections.
