Why IBM
IBM® SYSTEMS DIRECTOR 'tiered' AGENT SUPPORT lets you do business the way you want.
What we offer
IBM® Systems Director 6.1 is even easier to deploy and provides more choice regarding the amount of hardware management you desire. This is accomplished with a tiered approach to the management of systems on your network. IBM Systems Director 6.1 allows you to choose from agentless (zero footprint), basic hardware management or the full IBM Systems Director Agent.
The IBM Systems 6.1 Director Common Agent also supports the latest industry standards and provides broad platform operating system support, simplifying the management of complex, heterogeneous systems. IBM Systems Director's 6.1 broad platform coverage includes Windows, Linux on x86, Linux on Power, AIX, IBM i, and Linux on Systems z environments across Power Systems, System x, System z, and BladeCenter. In addition, the IBM Systems Director 6.1 Common Agent can be used to manage certain non-IBM Intel-compatible systems.

- Replaces the previous IBM Director 5.x Level 2 Agent while providing Seamless integration of Platform Agent
Platform Agent
- Provides a subset of Common Agent functions used to communicate with and administer the managed system, including hardware alerts and status information
- Improved interoperability through open standards, rather than through proprietary technologies
- Firmware and driver updates and remote deployment
Agent-less Management
- Agent-less managed systems are best for environments that require very small footprints and are used for specific tasks, such as one-time inventory collection, firmware and driver updates and remote deployment.
