Highlights
"We believe that by building solutions using industry-leading, open standards-based platforms such as the IBM BladeCenter and GoAhead SAFfire high-availability management software, customers are able to put together application ready platforms in a cost-effective and timely way."
— Dr. Asif Naseem, President and COO GoAhead
IBM BladeCenter with GoAhead SelfReliant® and GoAhead SAFfire™ middleware offers end-to-end, high availability and systems management on a carrier-grade Linux platform. The use of GoAhead middleware reduces the burden of integration and validation, helping telecom service providers accelerate new application deployment and time-to-market. GoAhead supports the following Service Availability Forum (SA Forum) specifications, including:
- Hardware Platform Interface (HPI) specification for chassis and blade server management of hardware-specific sensors and controls
- Application Interface Specification (AIS) for platform portability and application re-use.
GoAhead also provides a System Model to manage system resources to help provide comprehensive availability, high performance with millisecond, stateful failover, fast messaging and low CPU usage.

Performance characteristics:
GoAhead Software products feature key performance characteristics including modified application failover as as low as 10 milliseconds and unmodified application failover: as low as 300 milliseconds. In addition, the GoAhead SelfReliant System Model scales to greater than 10,000 managed objects and can track the state of these objects at a rate of nearly 2,500 transitions per second.
GoAhead products feature several messaging models including point-to-point messaging, publish-subscribe and roundtrip latency publish-subscribe. Greater than 40,000 messages are processed per second for a point-to-point connection (for a 64 byte message); greater than 18,000 messages for the same size message and 100 connections in .7 milliseconds using a roundtrip latency publish-subscribe model. Overall, the number of connections per node is greater than 1,000.
GoAhead products feature a highly available in-memory database to store system and application information needed to 99.999 percent availability or greater. The read time for this database for a 64 byte record is 3 μs and the write time is 19 μs.
GoAhead products scale to 64 nodes.
GoAhead also features an embedded WebServer, which has a 60KB footprint, HTTP 1.0 support, persistent connections at a rate of 65 connections per second and steady-state CPU usage of less than one percent.
