IBM Real-time Compression Appliance STN6800
IBM Real-time Compression is a new storage efficiency solution for primary, active data
IBM Real-time Compression Appliances are the only storage compression solutions that can shrink primary, online data in real time, without performance degradation. By significantly reducing storage requirements, organisations can keep up to five times more information online for analytics, use the improved efficiency to reduce storage costs, or achieve a combination of greater capacity and reduced cost.
By transparently compressing primary data by up to 80 percent, IBM Real-time Compression helps control the growth of storage, reducing the amount of storage to be managed, powered and cooled.
IBM Real-time Compression Appliances increase the effective capacity of the existing storage infrastructure, helping enterprises meet the demands of rapid data growth while also maintaining or enhancing storage performance. All IBM Real-time Compression Appliances use IBM’s patented real-time data compression techniques for primary storage, delivering optimisation and savings throughout the entire data lifecycle. The results can be rapid Return on Investment (ROI), reduced operating expenses and lower environmental impact.
IBM Real-time Compression Appliance STN6800
- Enterprise ready: IBM Real-time Compression Appliance STN6800 supports multiple 10 GbE and 1 GbE connections for high throughput environments
- Complete transparency: IBM STN6800 sits between NAS systems using UNIX® (Network File System (NFS)) and Microsoft® Windows® (Commom Internet File System (CIFS)) protocols and the network switches, for completely transparent operations. No user changes are required
- Simplicity: IBM STN6800 requires no software drivers and no changes to server, application or storage configurations
- HA: IBM STN6800 includes redundant and hot-swap components and is typically deployed in pairs for non-disruptive failover.
