IBM BladeCenter HS23E
intel xeon The BladeCenter HS23E is a new all-purpose two-socket blade server ideal for entry to mid-level workloads such as infrastructure and retail applications. It offers flexible configuration options to provide performance for value. Combine HS23E with BladeCenter E for a highly energy efficient platform or with BladeCenter S for a ready-to-order, office-in-a-box solution. And the HS23E is compatible with all IBM chassis, including the original BladeCenter E. If your applications are struggling to run on older one-socket and two-socket systems, the HS23E can help increase the performance and efficiency of your workloads.

The BladeCenter HS23 is a two-socket blade server optimised for performance and flexibility to run a variety of workloads well. The combination of integrated 10 GbE Virtual Fabric, 16 memory slots, and the Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 product family make the HS23 ideal for virtualisation and cloud computing. While the HS23 is compatible with all our BladeCenter chassis, it’s a great match with our high performance chassis when you need to run compute-intensive applications quickly and efficiently.

IBM offers a choice of blade servers offering a range of performance levels and features, so you can select exactly the right servers for the workloads you need to support, even mixing and matching them in a single chassis.

IBM BladeCenter chassis

The flexible, open BladeCenter ecosystem includes a choice of chassis to meet a variety of needs, including chassis for data centers, retail stores or remote sites and non-traditional environments. Though each chassis supports a full range of servers, they offer different feature sets to address a range of business challenges.

2 Up to 92% fewer networking cables based on calculations of: one 42U rack populated with 4 BladeCenter H chassis containing 14 blades each (56 total) supporting 12 I/O ports per blade (672 total ports) requiring a total of 64 cables per rack for 6 integrated switch modules (8 cables from the Virtual Fabric switches and 8 cables from other LAN switches times 4 chassis; the VF switches support both LAN and SAN traffic, so separate SAN cabling is unnecessary). An equivalent 56 1U rack servers populated in 2 rack enclosures supporting 14 I/O ports per server (12 LAN cables and 2 SAN cables connected to corresponding external LAN and SAN switches) requires a total of 784 cables. This does not even include the 86% reduction in cabling for power cords (16 per rack for BladeCenter H vs. 112 for 56 1U servers with redundant power), or the reduction in KVM and PDU switches and cabling.
