As a component of the IBM Tivoli® Storage Productivity Center (TPC), IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Limited Edition is focused on providing basic device discovery and asset management services for IBM System Storage™ DS3000, DS4000®, DS5000, DS6000™ & DS8000® products, IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller in addition to select IBM tape libraries and heterogeneous storage environments.
TPC Basic Edition provides storage administrators a simple way to conduct device management for multiple storage arrays and SAN fabric components from a single integrated console that also is the base of operations for the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center suite.
Productivity Center Basic Edition is designed to help you:
- Discover and configure IBM and heterogeneous SMI-S supported devices
- Perform event gathering, error logging and launch device element managers
- Provide basic asset and capacity reporting
- Provisioning support including LUN allocation and assignment
- Display an end-to-end topology view of your storage infrastructure and health console
- Enable a simple upgrade path to IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Standard Edition (or single priced modules)
IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Basic Edition is a management option offered with IBM midrange and high-end storage systems. This tool provides storage administrators with a simple way to conduct device management for multiple storage arrays and SAN fabric components from a single integrated console that also is the base of operations for the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center suite. The features of Basic Edition are also included within:
- Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Data
- Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Disk
- Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication

Highlights
The IBM Tivoli® Storage Productivity Center Suite is designed to:
- Help centralize the management of your storage infrastructure from a single interface using role-based administration and single sign-on
- Provide a single management application with modular integrated components that are easy to install and provide common services for simple/consistent configuration and consistent operations across host, fabric and storage systems
