
Getting started at IPL time

If PM for System i is not activated on your system, following an IPL you will receive a message CPAB02A which will ask you whether you want to send data to IBM by activating PM for System i. This message will be sent to the QSYSOPR message queue. By responding to the message with "G", PM for System i will proceed with the activation.
After successful activation, a message CPIB02B will be sent to the QSYSOPR message queue telling you that your PM400 is activated.
You will now need to verify a few setup items. Typing in GO PM400, takes you to the PM for System i menu.
- Verify the Work with Contact Information menu option to make sure your name, email and address are correct.
- Check the Work with Customization menu option to verify the number you will be using to dial your PM for System i factory located on the second screen.
You can go to this PM for System i menu at any time to tailor PM for System i for your system.
In case of error during activation, a message CPIB02C will be received on the QSYSOPR message queue indicating that PM was not activated. |

Getting started at anytime

To activate anytime, or if there was an error during activation at IPL, sign on as QSECOFR and type in the command CFGPM400. For a typical system setup, you will keep the default responses to the questions asked during CFGPM400.
After successful activation, a screen will appear indicating that PM for System i has been successfully activated.
You will now need to verify a few setup items. Typing in GO PM400, takes you to the PM for System i menu.
