This class will provide details about the enhancements contained in the V6R1 support for running server operating systems on an Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) Host Bus Adapter (HBA) attached System x or Bladcenter blade server connected to the System i. Learn about the new features and hardware that are related to this environment. Through lecture topics and hands-on exercises explore installation requirements and procedures for the Windows Server 2008 operating system; snap shot backups of active network storage spaces; VMotion support between VMware ESX servers; direct connection of your HBAs, new SLES 10 and RHEL 5 operating system support along with other enhancements.

This is a basic workshop for administrators, support specialists, service technicians, IBM Business Partners, consultants, and individuals, who install, administer, and support System i integration with BladeCenter or System x via iSCSI.

- Understand the network storage space snap shot feature and how it can be used for save while active backups.
