PTFs: WebSphere Application Server V6.1 for V5R4

Fixes for WebSphere Application Server V6.1 for i5/OS are delivered via a fix pack which is included in the WebSphere Application Server for i5/OS group PTF. The group PTF number for all WebSphere Application Server V6.1 products for i5/OS release V5R4M0 is SF99323. See the OS/400 Group PTFs to locate and view the information file for SF99323.

After the group PTF is applied, the fix pack is placed under the V6.1 Update Installer directory. You must then run the update script to install the fix pack. See the V6.1 Fix Pack Install Instructions or view the readme files located in the V6.1 Update Installer directory once the PTFs have been applied.

Important note to Web Services Feature Pack users:

If the Web Services Feature Pack is installed on your system, you must also download the Web Services Feature Pack Fix Pack 17. This must be done after applying Group SF99323, but before running the update script. The Update Installer will not allow the installation to proceed without the Web Services Feature Pack Fix Pack 17 in the maintenance directory.

When upgrading WebSphere Application Server and Web Services Feature Pack for Application Server, as well as Application Client products to version 6.1.0.17 or higher level, a mandatory Interim Fix must be installed prior to the installation of Fix Pack 6.1.0.17 or higher. The Update Installer will not allow you to upgrade WebSphere Application Server and Web Services Feature Pack to version 6.1.0.17 without first installing these Interim Fixes.

Download Interim Fix PK53084 which is required to be installed while upgrading WebSphere Application Server and Web Services Feature Pack for Application Server to version 6.1.0.17 or higher level.

Download Interim Fix PK53210 which is required to be installed while upgrading WebSphere Application Client and Web Services Feature Pack for Application Client to version 6.1.0.17 or higher level.

Important note to EJB 3.0 Feature Pack users:

If the EJB 3.0 Feature Pack is installed on your system, you must also download the EJB 3.0 Feature Pack Fix Pack 17. This must be done after applying Group SF99323, but before running the update script. The Update Installer will not allow the installation to proceed without the Web Services Feature Pack Fix Pack 17 in the maintenance directory.

Other Group PTFs Included

The WebSphere Application Server group PTF includes the latest group PTFs (most current at the time of ordering) for the following products:

  • DB2/400
  • Java/400
  • IBM HTTP Server

In addition to these Group PTFs, the WebSphere Application Server Group PTF may also include additional PTFs which are not a part of any group PTF or cumulative PTF package. These PTFs are required for some portion of the product to function correctly. See the OS/400 Group PTFs web page to view the contents of a particular group PTF. Cumulative Package
This level (V6.1.0.17) of WebSphere Application Server was tested with the V5R4 Cumulative PTF Package C8057540. You may be able to successfully run with an earlier or later cumulative PTF package.

WebSphere Application Server version
The latest version of the WebSphere Application Server V6.1 for i5/OS group PTF contains PTFs required to run the product. You can find out the current version of WebSphere Application Server V6.1 for i5/OS product on your iSeries system by issuing the following command in the QSH environment:

/QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V61/edition/bin/versionInfo, where edition is:
  • Express if you have WebSphere Application Server ” Express installed
  • Base if you have WebSphere Application Server for Developers, or WebSphere Application Server installed
  • ND if you have WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment installed

The version number under the “Installed product section is the current product version.
The latest available PTF version for WebSphere Application Server V6.1: 6.1.0.17.

You should have the listed versions or newer installed on your System i. The WebSphere Application Server for i5/OS group PTF always includes the most recent version of the group PTFs listed.
