i5/OS V5R3 is the final release that will support IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for iSeries products (IBM WebSphere Application Server Express V5.0 for iSeries, IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for iSeries, and IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V5.0 for iSeries).
i5/OS V5R4 will only support WebSphere Application Server V5.0 and WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V5.0 for these applications:
- J D Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP Software Suite
- IBM WebSphere Portal
- IBM Workplace Collaboration Services
- IBM Workplace Services Express
Customers that use the applications above and require V5R4 support, see the OS/400 Group PTFs web page for information on the i5/OS V5R4 Group PTFs for WebSphere Application Server V5.0 (Group SF99317) and WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V5.0 (Group SF99318). WebSphere Application Server Express V5.0 is not supported on i5/OS V5R4.
All other customers currently using WebSphere Application Server Version 5.0 products should migrate to the WebSphere Application Server V5.1 or V6.0 products when upgrading to the next i5/OS release. The migration can occur before upgrading to the next i5/OS release or after. See the WebSphere Application Server for OS/400 V6 documentation at for more information.
In i5/OS V5R3, IBM Web Enablement for iSeries was shipped with i5/OS, and included IBM WebSphere Application Server Express V5.0 for iSeries and IBM WebSphere Application Server Express V5.1 for iSeries.
For V5R4, IBM Web Enablement for i5/OS will be shipped with i5/OS, and it will include IBM WebSphere Application Server Express V5.1 for iSeries and IBM WebSphere Application Server Express V6.0 for OS/400. IBM WebSphere Application Server Express V5.0 for iSeries will not be included or supported with IBM Web Enablement for i5/OS for V5R4.
