  • There are several changes to WebSphere Application Server for i5/OS V6R1. WebSphere Application Server version 6.0 and WebSphere Application Server version 6.1 are supported on i5/OS V6R1. However, the minimum supported fix levels of the Application Server are 6.0.2.23 and 6.1.0.11, respectively, and a 6.0 Refresh (6.0.2.23) image or 6.1 Refresh (6.1.0.11) image is required for installation. WebSphere Application Server version 5.1 is not supported on i5/OS V6R1 and is not operational on i5/OS V6R1. Customers currently using Application Server V5.1 and upgrading to V6R1 should migrate to Application Server V6.0 or Application Server V6.1. Also, the default Java virtual machine (JVM) has changed for Application Server V6.1, but this change only affects new installations of Application Server V6.1 on i5/OS V6R1. Additionally, the IBM J2SE 5.0 64 bit (product 5761-JV1 option 9) is new with i5/OS V6R1 and is supported by Application Server V6.1. For more information about these and other Application Server changes for i5/OS V6R1, see Changes for i5/OS V6.1.
