VPN traces generated by TRCTCPAPP can help you analyze the VPN status and debug any potential errors. It contains two traces. VPN Key Manager, which implements the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) protocol, exchanges IKE protocol specific messages between itself and peer IKE servers in an attempt to agree on how traffic will be protected between two endpoints. VPN Connection Manager is responsible for communicating with key manager, interacting with database to retrieve and update the VPN policy and loading the connection.
By running and analyzing the traces, you can obtain a readable form of all IKE protocol messages that Key Manager sent and received during the time TRCTCPAPP was enabled, and the sequence of actions Connection Manager is taking to enable the connection. This tool is meant to be used in conjunction with the job logs and general trace for the purpose of problem diagnostics.
