What has changed for Navigator for i for Wireless ?
For V6R1M0 information regarding Navigator for i for Wireless product (5722XP1) please refer to APAR SE32534.
| ----------------------------- |
Get more flexibility to access Management Central information and monitor your System i systems. Navigator for i for Wireless was created so you could remotely monitor system performance and status from anywhere.
Originally introduced as Management Central - Pervasive in V4R5, it allowed users to remotely monitor system status and performance using an internet phone, a PDA with a wireless modem, or a traditional web browser. In V5R1 it was greatly enhanced, enabling users to:
- Run commands across multiple systems
- Start and view system, job, and message monitors
- Work with jobs and messages from the monitors (hold, release, end, reply, get details, and more)
- Manage integrated xSeries servers
|
 |
In V5R2, Management Central - Pervasive was renamed to Navigator for i for Wireless and further enhanced with the following features:
- Start and view File and B2B Activity monitors
- Work with all Navigator for i tasks (not just command tasks)
- View a summary report off-line
- Control access to functions via Application Administration
- Use Setup scripts to configure web application servers!
After you set up a web server on your central system using the supplied scripts, simply enter the URL into your internet phone, PDA, or web browser to check the availability of your systems and any active Navigator for i monitors. For example, you can check to see if one of your systems has finished restarting, or you can check an active monitor to see if any thresholds for CPU were exceeded. If you then find a job that is taking up too much CPU, you can hold or end it.
