Directory Services (LDAP): Migration Considerations
Directory Server is automatically installed when you install i5/OS. The first time the server is started, it automatically migrates any existing configuration and data. This may cause a long delay before the server is started the first time.
If you have a Directory Server running under V4R3, V4R4, or V4R5, you can migrate your data to V5R3.
In V5R3, several changes related to the IBM Directory Server on System i require your attention:
- A Web Administration tool is provided for configuring the IBM Directory Server (IDS) on System i. You must use this tool to configure the replication, authority, and ACL group functions. In prior releases, you could configure these functions using System i Navigator. In V5R3, the Directory Management Tool (DMT) is no longer provided.
- You must use the WebSphere® Application Server - Express product with the Web Administration tool. If your System i server is too small to run this server with V5R3, you can use an alternate version of the Web Administration tool. To get the alternative version, please call IBM Service.
