IBM HTTP Server for i news

December, 2012

Large file support now available

Within the HTTP Server for i a new feature, large file (>2GB) support has been added. The HTTP Server for i has been re-compiled against macro _LARGE_FILES to allow the HTTP Server to handle files larger than 2GB. This new feature results in IBM i HTTP server Plug-in modules to be re-compiled with this same macro in order to work correctly with the large support enabled HTTP server. The following IBM i shipped Plug-in modules have been re-compiled and shipped in this Group.

(1) IBM Integrated Web Application Server for i and IBM Integrated Web Services Server for i Plug-in module: /QSYS.LIB/QHTTPSVR.LIB/QLWIIHSMOD.SRVPGM
(2) IBM Domino Server for i Plug-in module: /QSYS.LIB/QHTTPSVR.LIB/QZSRVAP20A.SRVPGM
(3) Tomcat Server Plug-in module: /QSYS.LIB/QHTTPSVR.LIB/QZTCJK.SRVPGM
(4) WebSphere Application Server Plug-in module(/QSYS.LIB/QWASxxv.LIB/QSVTAP22LF.SRVPGM) have also been re-compiled and integrated in the WebSphere Application Server fix packs: 6.1.0.45, 7.0.0.25, 8.0.0.5 and 8.5.0.1. If you are using the WebSphere Application Server to connect HTTP Server for i, you are recommended to have the required fix pack installed. While it is recommended to update to the correct fix pack, it is not necessary as the updated plugin has been included in this Group. This ensures that your servers remain functioning correctly after the Group is installed.

Please note: After this Group is installed, the HTTP server configuration file is automatically updated to use the new WebSphere Application Server Plug-in module when the HTTP Server is starting.

For users that have no third-party developed HTTP Server Plug-in modules, this change will have no effect.

Important note: For users that have third-party developed HTTP Server Plug-in modules, these modules are required to be re-compiled against the same macro. Your HTTP server applications will not work correctly until these plugins have been updated. For detail about how to re-compile third-party HTTP Plug-in module, please refer to the instructions.
