 | | |
Welcome to IBM Integrated Domino Fax for i5/OS V4R5. This document provides information about the following:
See the
Domino Fax for i5/OS V4R5 Administrator’s Guide (faxdom.pdf) which is available on the Domino Fax CD-ROM.
In addition, the
Domino Fax V4R5 Administrator’s Guide
(PDF, 1.3MB) is available on the web.
Consult
supported hardware devices on Domino Fax FAQ’s for the most up-to-date information about fax devices.
- Review the latest information before installing Fax
This online version of the release notes contains the latest information and will be updated as new information becomes available.
- Install the latest i5/OS cumulative PTF package
This is always a good practice.
- Install the latest Domino Fax updates
Check whether any
Domino Fax updates are available for V4R5. After installing Domino Fax, download and install the updates. After installing updates, remember to back up Domino Fax with the Save Licensed Program (SAVLICPGM) command. If you ever need to reinstall Domino Fax, you can reinstall from this backup using the Restore Licensed Program (RSTLICPGM) command and avoid reinstalling the fixes.
- Using a fax modem
Modems are less reliable than fax boards. It is recommended that you set the number of retries in the Fax Server document to at least “3” when using a fax modem. Also, the fax may occasionally be truncated when using a modem.
- Table borders and grid lines not rendered
Due to a Lotus Notes 6.5.x and 7.0.x issue, borders and grid lines for tables that appear in a Notes memo are not rendered when the memo is converted to a faxable image format.
- Fax delivery failures and Error 525
If you change Domino Fax configuration settings and then quit and restart Domino Fax, a user attempting to send a fax may receive a delivery failure, with the server reporting the errors “Error 525 opening spool database” and “Fax Format Converter could not convert to fax all the contents of job from
username.” The user should resend the fax.
