Update FWS 4.5 01 has been issued for the Fax Windows Services code included with Domino Fax Version 4 Release 5. This is the latest available update for the Fax Windows Services.
About this Update
- This update should be installed by customers who plan to use Lotus Notes version 8 on their Fax Windows Services system. This update is optional if you are still using Lotus Notes version 6 or 7.
- This update only affects the code running on the Fax Windows Services system.
- This update is a complete replacement for the Windows Fax Conversion Service code.
- No corresponding fixes are required for the Domino Fax code running on the Domino server, but it is highly recommended that you install the latest available update on the server.

Required update to run Fax Windows Services on Lotus Notes 8. |
This update is required to support the use of Lotus Notes version 8 on the Fax Windows Services system. The update also supports Notes 6 and 7 but is not required if you are using one of those releases.
Instructions are included here for both new installations and for upgrading a current Fax Windows Services system.
Installing a new Fax Windows Services system
- Follow this link to download the update: qfws4501.exe.
- Transfer the update file to your Fax Windows Services system.
- Install Lotus Notes version 8 on your Fax Windows Services system.
- If Lotus Notes is running, end it.
- Run qfws4501.exe and follow the instructions.
- Start the Windows Fax Conversion Service. See Administering your Fax Windows Services system for more information.
- Start Domino Fax on each server that that uses this Fax Windows Services system.
Upgrading a current Fax Windows Services system
- Follow this link to download the update: qfws4501.exe.
- Transfer the update file to your Fax Windows Services system.
- Stop Domino Fax on each server that uses the Fax Windows Services system you are planning to update. Otherwise, faxes may be lost.
- Go to the Fax Windows Services system and stop the Windows Fax Conversion Service. See Administering your Fax Windows Services system for more information.
- End Lotus Notes on the Fax Windows Services system.
- Uninstall Domino Fax Conversion services.
- (Optional) Uninstall Lotus Notes.
- Install Lotus Notes version 8.
- Run qfws4501.exe and follow the instructions.
- If you get an error message saying that the file is in use, reboot the Fax Windows Services system and start over at step 3.
- Start the Windows Fax Conversion Service. See Administering your Fax Windows Services system for more information.
- Start Domino Fax on each server that that uses this Fax Windows Services system.
