Domino Fax Log Messages: Error Code 11415
Code Description, Cause & Recovery
11415 Description:
Error x accessing incoming TIFF file.

Cause:
Domino Fax for i5/OS has encountered an OS/400 error. The error prevents the Fax server from passing the newly received incoming fax (TIFF) file to the Windows Fax Conversion Service running on the Fax Windows Services System. Therefore, the incoming fax file cannot be converted into a format viewable by a Notes client. The value of error code x provides more detailed information:

-10 The Fax server cannot translate the name of the temporary OS/400 file containing the incoming fax file. The filename is stored in a Fax Spool Mailbox (NFXSPOOL.NSF) job in LMBCS format and the Fax server cannot translate it to EBCDIC. Recovery
-11 The Fax server cannot open the temporary OS/400 file containing the incoming fax file. Recovery
-12 The Fax server cannot read data from the temporary OS/400 file containing the incoming fax file. Recovery

Recovery: The Fax server cannot access a newly received incoming fax file. Based on error code x, correct the problem by doing one of the following:

The language that you are using is not supported for the necessary conversions. If possible, complete the following steps at the Administrator Workstation for your Domino server:

  • Stop Fax.
  • Examine the names of the temporary files listed in the Fax Spool Mailbox database (NFXSPOOL.NSF). Determine if any of the temporary filenames appear to have characters which may cause translation problems.
  • End the Domino server.
  • Change the language that you are using for this Domino server.
  • Start the Domino server.
  • Start Fax, if it does not start automatically.

If the problem still exists, report it to your service provider.

This may not be a Fax problem. It is possible that there is a problem with this particular fax. Ask the sender to send the fax again. If the problem still occurs, attempt to determine the reason by completing the following steps at the Administrator Workstation for your Domino server:

  • Verify that the necessary directories exist:
    • Verify that the /QIBM/USERDATA/LOTUS/FAX directory exists. Use the Work with Object Links (WRKLNK) command and specify '/QIBM/USERDATA/LOTUS/FAX' as the Object ( OBJ) parameter. If it does not exist, stop Fax, restore the Domino Fax for i5/OS product, and then start Fax.
    • If /QIBM/USERDATA/LOTUS/FAX exists, verify that /QIBM/USERDATA/LOTUS/FAX/TMP also exists. If it does not exist, stop Fax, create /QIBM/USERDATA/LOTUS/FAX/TMP using the Create Directory (CRTDIR) command, and then start Fax.
    • If you have not yet found the problem, verify that /QIBM/USERDATA/LOTUS/FAX/TMP/ exists. If it does not exist, stop Fax, create /QIBM/USERDATA/LOTUS/FAX/TMP/ using the Create Directory (CRTDIR) command, and then start Fax.
  • If all of the necessary directories exist, use the Work with Authority (WRKAUT) command and specify '/QIBM/USERDATA/LOTUS/FAX/TMP/ ' for the Object ( OBJ) parameter. Make sure that the QNOTES user profile has *RWX Data Authority and *ALL Object Authorities.
  • If you have not yet found the problem, use the Work with Domino Servers (WRKDOMSVR) command to display the list of Domino servers configured on your iSeries server. Select option 9 for the Domino server running Fax. This brings up a Work with Active Jobs display:
    • If FAX is listed on the Work with Active Jobs display, do the following:
      • Select option 5 for the FAX job. This brings up a Work with Job display.
      • Select option 10 to display the FAX job log.
      • Read the messages to determine the cause and recovery for this problem.
      • Stop Fax and then correct the problem.
      • Start Fax.
    • If FAX is not listed on the Work with Active Jobs display, do the following:
      • Use the Work with Spooled Files (WRKSPLF) command and choose QNOTES for the User option and FAX for the User data option of the SELECT parameter. This displays a list of FAX job logs.
      • Find the FAX job log that corresponds to this particular problem and choose option 5 to display it.
      • Read the messages to determine the cause and recovery for this problem.
      • Stop Fax and then correct the problem.
